Some devices have valuable cost saving features. Here are a few to look out for:
- Roll fed devices that can print during the ramp up to full speed. For those that can’t compare the amount of paper wasted before printing begins.
- Ink recirculation in print heads to reduce the amount of ink used to keep heads from drying out.
- Head capping of CMY print heads when printing mono jobs to further reduce ink consumption.
- Automatic profile adjustment at multiple settings (e.g. High, Medium, Low) to limit ink to meet relative quality expectations.

Using low TAC and high GCR settings for device profiles, while maintaining a CMYK gamut which covers the simulation CMYK profile chosen, in order to minimise ink usage.
