Finding the coolest of the cool at drupa

By Mary Schilling / Published:

Over the course of seven days at drupa 2024 I had the extraordinary opportunity to seek out and interview a wide range of companies offering innovative products and solutions. Each day brought new discoveries and revelations as I delved into the world of color management solutions, inkjet printing on unique surfaces, and media designed to help the planet. It was the coolest of tools that truly caught my attention at the show. The cutting-edge products and solutions I saw have the potential to revolutionize the industry, and I couldn’t wait to share them with the world. From specialty security fluids to eco-friendly materials, I will be talking about these game-changers in a video series naturally called Cool Tools.

A Kid in a Candy Store

As I wandered through the bustling exhibition halls, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Each company I interviewed presented something new and exciting, and I was constantly amazed by the level of innovation and creativity on display.

One particular company caught my eye with their revolutionary approach to inkjet technology. The company customizes each machine to print on traditional surfaces like paper and fabric, but it could also print on glass, metal, and even wood. The possibilities seemed endless, and I can’t wait to see how this product will impact the printing industry.

Another company showcased their eco-friendly media, made from recycled materials and designed to reduce waste and pollution. It was heartening to see that, even in the world of printing, steps were being taken to help the planet.

Perhaps the most intriguing Cool Tool I encountered was a color management solution that could accurately align printed color across the world, no matter how unique or complex. It would be a dream come true for printers, who could use it to align production with precision and accuracy.

As I wrapped up my final interview, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible journey I had been on. Working on this video series had not only introduced me to groundbreaking products, but it had also given me a deeper understanding of the industry and its potential for growth and innovation. I left Drupa with a sense of excitement and inspiration, knowing that these Cool Tools would soon make their way into the market and change the game for printing. And I was grateful to have been a part of it all, witnessing firsthand the evolution of an industry and the birth of new possibilities.
