We’ve talked a lot about market segments where offset and gravure are the dominant print technologies. Today we talk with Marco Boer of I.T. Strategies about areas of opportunity for shifting from toner to inkjet, or adding inkjet to a toner portfolio.
The majority of transaction printing is already produced on production inkjet, while Marco indicates that roughly 40% of direct mail is touched by inkjet at some point. When it comes to direct mail that is already digital, inkjet has overtaken toner. But there are other, untapped markets with great potential like labels and packaging.
In a previous article, Marco discussed economic issues that are having an impact on the commercial printing market as a whole, and creating the perfect storm for inkjet adoption.
As always, thanks Marco for sharing your data and insights!
