Resources for Industrial Inkjet Developers

As covered in previous integration research here, bespoke integration for industrial applications is a growth market. In addition, new commercially available systems are coming on the market regularly. This means that there is a growing audience for information about inkjet components, their suitability, compatibility and comparative effectiveness.

This is the audience served by ImageXpert Inc.,  a highly-specialized machine vision integrator with a combination of software and hardware for the analysis of inkjet components and production quality. The company also serves the market by gathering and sharing standardized specifications to simplify product comparison in the industrial inkjet market, (a service that Inkjet Insight has been providing for the production inkjet community for several years.)

Most recently ImageXpert published the “Ultimate Industrial Inkjet Printhead Comparison Chart” describing it as “the most powerful inkjet R&D tool that you didn’t know you needed.” They captured specifications for 9 manufacturers and 130 different printheads. Information covered includes ink types supported, gravity fed or recirculating ink supply, fluid viscosity ranges, drop volume ranges, image print width, number of nozzle rows, total nozzles, number of colors, resolution per color, use of heater and max heater temperature, and the maximum binary frequency representing the highest number of drops per second that can be produced from each nozzle.

ImageXpert has been kind enough to allow us to provide this resource as a free download.

When evaluating printheads for your inkjet development project, all of these factors work together to deliver quality and determine the suitability of a head for a particular application. Mark Bale provides additional background on the head capabilities for manufacturing systems that must work effectively together.

Naturally, finding the right printhead is only one step in the process. Testing is an integral part of the process and one where ImageXpert excels. You may want to learn about their JetXpert platform for drop-in-flight and print quality analysis as you bring together the components of your solution.

Stay tuned for more resources to support your industrial and bespoke projects.
