BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — thINK, an independent community of Canon Solutions America production print customers, today announced that thINK and Canon Solutions America have teamed up to produce a second edition of the Designers Guide to Inkjet, which was originally published in 2014 by Canon Solutions America. This updated and expanded guide discusses the different processes and options within production inkjet to meet the needs of each of the application segments. Designers are to have unprecedented access into the latest and greatest that inkjet has to offer.

The thINK community and Canon Solutions America recognized that production inkjet evolved quickly since the original Designer’s Guide to Inkjet was published – it has now taken a dominant role in the printing industry and continues to expand into new markets. Accordingly, it was decided that the time to bring designers up-to-date on the state of the industry with new guiding principles, best practices, and real-world recommendations was now.  Included in the book is valuable information regarding advances in printheads, inkjet technology, media options, and more.

“As the largest network of production inkjet users, we are dedicated to finding new ways to provide all the tools necessary to help our community thrive with their business investments,” said Bob Radzis, thINK President. “We are excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with Canon Solutions America on the second edition of the book and truly have an impact on the industry through this powerful expanded guide.”

Printed on the game-changing Océ VarioPrint i300 sheet-fed inkjet press available from Canon Solutions America and using Glatfelter Pixelle Superior Matter paper, the new guide offers direction on the advances in technology including software, hardware, inks, and in particular, paper. Additionally, it is packed with intriguing developments surrounding substrates. Many substrates that are available today and that have opened the doors for new applications and new markets did not exist at the time the first book was published.

The original authors, Elizabeth Gooding and Mary Schilling of Inkjet Insight, have returned to share their expertise on how advances in presses, ink and paper are affecting the creative process and design potential. It is their mission to help designers understand the dos and don’ts for designing with production inkjet and help organizations create the best possible prints and grow their business using inkjet. According to Schilling, tailoring workflow to integrate the best processes for optimal inkjet production will make or break how customers view inkjet output.

“Working with designers and production inkjet users every day, Mary and I have seen the range of opportunities to bring these audiences closer together and raise the bar on inkjet design,” said Elizabeth Gooding. “We’re thrilled that Canon Solutions America and thINK Forum recognized the need for a second, expanded issue of the Guide.”
