  • Geared to graphic designers at direct mail print shops.
  • Pre-class review of current production samples.
  • Focus is on inkjet specific design issues and cognitive drivers of response to messaging. Emphasize need for internal design review process. Show examples of good and bad direct mail design. Similar to Transpromo design course with more focus on substrates and finishing and tradeoffs between using partial pre-print and full digital production (analog vs. digital). This is an “operational design” as opposed to a marketing seminar.
    • Minimal coverage on color theory (assumes prior knowledge). Includes overview of technical compatibility requirements for multi-channel campaigns (QR, PURL etc.)

  • For designers who are customers of inkjet print service providers.
  • Pre-class review of print provider’s specific environment.
  • The purpose of this class is to teach designers how to optimize designs and design files for the target inkjet production environment. Includes an overview of inkjet technology from a designer’s perspective, contrasting with toner, offset and non-print design. Will discuss the impact of paper selection on quality and tips and tricks for managing color expectations.
